Finished!

I stareted this throw in January 2017 and I made a supreme effort to complete it for January 2018. I didn’t buy any new yarn but used my stash of multi coloured wool. I chose random colours and used random crochet stitches, just following my creativity.

There is nothing cosier than making a blanket ( or afghan)  in the winter months. Fire lit, crochet over the lap and dog by my side. Bliss.

Giddy

I’ve just got to tell you that I am giddy with excitement! Why? I’m on the brink, nay cusp of finishing not one but TWO works in progress! How exciting is that? Such a rare event.

Im savouring the moment so will show you pics when work complete! I have put myself under pressure ( I work better under pressure)  as I am off to a craft show with Sis on Friday. I promised myself that I wouldn’t buy/start any more project until I had finished at least two. Mind you I don’t NEED to buy more as I still have multiple PHDs (projects half done) filling up my tiny cottage. But you know the score…

Woolly Stash

I’ve also been sorting my yarn stash. Probably a place that no one has dared to go before! Actually the amount of yarn has been greatly reduced as I used quite a lot on my last teaching cruise. The ladies made “twiddle muffs” for donation to care homes.

I have also used quite a lot of my yarn stash making a throw (afghan) which is very colourful and on the brink of completion. Yippee!

Just when I thought all yarn was sorted I stumbled across another bag of yarn! I am not allowing myself to start this project until two of my WIPs (works in progress) are finished. So maybe soon.

Stash, de-stash, re-stash.

There’s something about January. A new year, new beginnings and new starts. Maybe it’s the dull, dark, damp days that encourage us to sort out, tidy up and clear the decks. So sort the stash I must. Actually I had to sort out because I couldn’t close the lid on my Textile box!

I emptied the pine box and sorted through the cottons, velvets, linens and lace. I folded, stacked and checked what was hiding in the storage chest. Then I lined the bottom of the chest and Whoo Hoo the lid closed!

I am going to try really hard not to acquire more fabric unless it is a considered sensible purchase. Ha ha! Watch this space!

Next, I’ve got rather a lot of yarn….

 

 

 

I’ve Won (again!)

Some of you may remember from a post long ago that I enter competitions from time to time and I even win from time to time! I’ve recently won again. Yippee!

Cosy Crochet

Working on one of my many Works in Progress(WIP) There’s nothing better than working on a blanket in front of the fire in the Winter. Here is my current blanket which is crocheted from yarn in my stash. It’s a life time objective to reduce my enormous stash of yarn and textiles. It would work if I didn’t keep buying more!

This particular project is something of a rainbow blanket which I am making up as I go along and it uses a lot of yarn. I’m about half way through so the wool pile will be quite reduced by the end. That is if I don’t have to buy more wool for the border……

Finished Friday

OK long time no blog! I’ve been very busy, excuses excuses! I’ve been very busy cruising in the Caribbean and I’ve been Very busy having Christmas. I know! I know! I’m spoiled but I love it.

One thing I did was to actually finish something. This was a scarf for Darling Daughter as a gift for Christmas. I used ” Hitchhiker” pattern from http://www.ravelry.com

I am pleased with the out come and nearly kept it for myself. It’s always a good gift when you don’t want to give it away isn’t it? But it did go to a good home!

I used a fine un dyed Merino wool which was good to work with. I do think that this scarf would be good in many yarns as it’s so adaptable.

As you can see I added pearl beads to the points and blocked it when completed.

Here is my original Hitchhiker scarf which is much bigger as I just knit until I’d used up all the yarn! I hate waste!

I promise to blog more often and I promise to work harder and complete more projects. ( In my dreams)
