Vintage Confession

Standard

I have always been a chocoholic- until now that is. When my children were young I traditionally bought each of them a Selection Box for Christmas. One particular selection box was in the shape of a Christmas stocking covered with nylon netting.

Now for the confession, and not a lot of people know this! One Christmas I carefully un picked the end of the stocking and slid out the Mars bar. I, of course, ate it! This meant that I could buy a new bar of chocolate and slide it into place. I fastened down the end of the stocking and happily gave it to the intended recipient.

I am no longer a Chocaholic. In fact chocolate has not passed my lips for ten months. My halo is chocking me!

Treat

Standard

A friend in Craft Group lent me a book that she thought I’d like. She was right! I liked it so much that I didn’t read it. It’s a lovely book. OK I confess. I didn’t read it or even take too much of a peak. I bought my own copy immediately. I put my friend’s book to one side and shall return it as soon as possible! How mad is that? My own copy has arrived and I shall take it away with me next week to study in peace. Whoo Hoo!

Such a good time

Standard

Each year a group of my girlfriends and I celebrate the Christmas season with a mini break. This year we did different. The different involved a train trip to Liverpool and afternoon tea in a hotel. The “tea” AKA Prosecco also involved a musical cabaret which was such fun! The place rocked! ( helped by the Prosecco)

We followed this with a spontaneous decision to go to the cinema to see the story of Queen called Bohemian Rhapsody. The place rocked! We had the best of “different” good times.

We had a sleep over in a hotel followed by a visit to The Liverpool Lush Spa. A BIG thank you to the spa ladies for providing a wonderful foot treatment and it’s true to say that all five of us were walking on air! Truly a “different” experience.

Phew! What a whirlwind weekend. What wonderful friends and what amazing “different”

Hello December

Standard

Can you believe that December is with us again? Today being 1st December we can allow Christmas into our lives! Today we can play Christmas music, shop for gifts and even eat mince pies. Christmas should be banned until 1st December and then celebrated in all its glory. We can now buy a tree, decorate our homes and write Christmas cards.

I have a busy few days ahead with a trip to Liverpool with girl friends. We have ambitious plans with afternoon tea, cabaret, cocktails, spa massage and Prosecco. Oh and we might fit in a little Christmas shopping. All this and a hotel sleepover as well!

Blogging me

Standard

I’m going to blog everyday until Christmas. Wow! What a commitment!

I’ve been doing this blogging thing for more than 5 Years and still struggle to stay in touch! Hopefully the discipline of daily blogging or a daily blog”dose” will help to improve my blogyness.

Over the years I’ve more or less remained true to my original mantra ” Adventure before Dementia” and blogged about crafts, travel, vintage finds and life all accompanied by the odd glass of wine!

I’ve spent many happy hours reading other bloggers adventures. I used to read endless magazines but now buy very few. I suppose you only have time for a certain amount of reading and I spend a lot of my reading time on blogs. It’s rather like a self selection of magazine articles but it’s FREE.

I’ll stop rambling now and apply my thoughts and maybe, just maybe, focus.

Stay with me for the ride.

Welcome to my Craft Room

Standard

Hello and welcome. I can show you around my craft room because it’s tidy! Whoo Hoo! Well, sort of. Its not the Worlds biggest craft room but it’s all mine. Small but beautifully formed.

I have sorted, dusted, sneezed and organised. I’ve even labelled projects and threw out rubbish. Now Hubs would say that I don’t have a craft room but a craft house. He’s not far wrong as all my WIP S( works in progress) seem to travel around the house and are very fond of the dining room table.

Anyhow come and take a look at my happy place……….

Just a small selection of my craft books.

Christmas PrepOrganised?Room with a viewWell dear friends I hope you enjoyed your sneak peak! Come back soon for another visit.

What are you Knitting?

Standard

This scarf is currently on my needles. It is the Hitchiker scarf by Martina Behm and this will be the third time that I’ve knit this asymmetrical scarf.

This is the current project-

The yarn is a 4ply which is hand dyed and hand spun by a friend from my Craft Group and is coming together very well.

Here is The original attempt-

I did knit another one for my daughter last Christmas but forgot to take a picture! For Darling Daughter I used a soft white yarn and sewed a pearl a each point. It worked out very well.

What are you Knitting?

Good year!

Standard

This was the week that I closed up my caravan for the winter. I could have stayed until January start but Criccieth closes almost completely at the end of October. It always seems like the town that time forgot but that is what I like about it. A sleepy old fashioned town on the coast at the top of the Llyn Peninsula. What more could you ask for?

Reasons to be grateful: beautiful coast, historical backdrop, beach combing, stormy promenade walking, Snowdonia views and happy times.

Roll on the Spring to return to my little piece of heaven. Not to wish my life away but by then we will have had Christmas, I will have been to India and maybe be a little older ( and hopefully not any fatter!!)

Crafts and Caravan

Standard

I recently had a lovely weekend with my Sister in my caravan in Criccieth. The weather was not good but we snuggled down with the heating and crafted all weekend.

We did have one break from crafting when we went to a bonfire on the beach. It was good fun and interesting to watch the fire by the waves. There was a lot of people there but everyone was happy and having fun.

During the weekend I put together some quilt kits for a craft fair next week. Sis made some tapestry cases, I knit, the sewing machine misbehaved, and we had fun.

Cruise Crafts Malta

Standard

Hello from Valletta Malta. The best thing about cruising is that it feels like a “day out” in different countries. You get more or less a day to explore before moving on to the next destination. This presents the idea if you want to return for a longer holiday. I like 🇲🇹 Malta.

Of course I am teaching crafts on board and really having a ball with a great group of ladies . I will tell you more about the crafts in another blog.

In the meantime I’m currently enjoying my second coffee stop in this lovely city. I’m in the local Marks and Spencer’s as I can guarantee free WIFI nice toilets and good coffee!

Malta is quite rightly proud of its history. It is immediately obvious how it’s walls protected the people, troops and refugees during WW2. It is also a moment to reflect on those who lost their lives for us.

Now it feels a happy, sunny 😎 free place to live
