Lots of Lushness xxx

I am am a self confessed fan of Lush Handmade Cosmetics http://www.lush.co.uk

Following a random poll of my friends it seems it’s a “Marmite” reaction to Lush shops, you either love it or hate it! Well I love it!

This Christmas they are offering a gift wrapping service using scarfs to wrap the chosen gift. This is “Knot-Wrap By Lush” a reusable fabric package in a Japanese style. Lush suggests wearing the fabric as a scarf or a belt, or do the traditional Japanese thing and kindly hand it back to be used again. The ultimate recycling . Personally I think that the scarves are too gorgeous to give back I will treasure mine!

I called into the Chester Lush shop to take these pictures. I also love their “Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter” a real treat for softening hard bits around nails. No wonder I have fabulous nails Ha! Ha!

Christmas Knit and Natter

Standard

Today I went to our local Abakhan Store at Mostyn. I had an invitation to their Christmas knit and natter group. This is not a group that I usually visit but I was made very welcome with mince pies and yummy coffee. Thank you to Abakhan for arranging the event. Sure to get you in the Christmas mood with a decoration Knitting competion, a goody bag to take home and demonstrations by the lovely ladies from Knit Now Magazine and Crochet Now Magazine.

I started a new project using Sirdar Firefly, which seems to be knitting up easier than I thought.

OK I did buy some yarn, couldn’t resist! More about that in the future.

Top Tip

Whilst rushing to complete a knitted Christmas hat I dropped stitches and couldn’t see to pick them up. Black on black is a nightmare in artificial light. Solution= Head torch!!

I’m not going down a mine but this torch really works. The actual light is directional so just wear and aim at the work in progress. It doesn’t do much for your hair and it’s not a good look. But hey do I care? It works!

Hat completed, hair flat, job done!

Christmas Cruise!

Standard

IMG_1434Hubs and I are prone to making spontaneous decisions, or should I say jumping in with both feet! It certainly keeps life interesting. Our latest instant idea was to book a cruise. It goes on Sunday to the Caribbean. Whoo Hoo! We don’t get back until 6am Christmas Day!  Guess who’s not cooking Christmas dinner? Hooray.

I have had seven days to:

1 Write, post and deliver Christmas cards.

2 Buy gifts for the family

3 complete hand crafted gifts

4 Pack

5 Buy any clothes needed ( always a good excuse!)

6 re pack to check what I have packed.

7 Book car parking

8 Apply for Visa

9 Buy all Christmas food and freeze so that we can actually eat. ( maybe after two weeks cruise food that won’t be an issue!)

10 collect currency

11 Have hair done. Nails. Check packing……..

12 Happy days!

Most importantly what craft project shall I take with me?

Craft Christmas Tree

Standard

IMG_1435Our village church asked each group within the community to decorate a tree for Christmas. As the local craft group we decided to participate, with Trevor ( a weaver and wood crafter) making a trendy wooden tree.(OK we did put his arm up his back) We knitted hats, gloves and scarves which Marg used to decorate the tree ( with tinsel and ribbon ). Our glorious tree stands with pride on the church window sill. We have a grand plan to donate our knitted gifts to Share in Chester and Mold after Twelfth Night. Share is a charity which cares for the homeless everywhere and these woolly knitters will surely go to a good cause.
