The difference a day makes

Standard

What a difference a day makes! Today was sunny, bright and cheerful. There was a “start of the season” party on the sea front today. There was live music, RNLI (which we all hope we will never need!) children’s games and a display of plastic waste! The plastic was shocking and brought home how much plastic waste that there must be in the sea. Nothing better than visual aides!

I have also put another vintage cloth into my Etsy shop Visit noddfacrafts.etsy.com

This is a beautiful vintage linen tray cloth.

Vintage Sorting

Standard

I have a HUGE collection of vintage textiles which I adore but it is out of control! The grand plan is to put some ( a lot ) in my Etsy shop and send it to a new home. Basically I am lucky to live in a small cottage and need to make the space. If I carry on collecting I think the walls of the cottage may bow Or Hubs might start to object)

The grand sort may take some time! In the meantime I’m enjoying playing with the fabrics and seeking out locations to use for photo shoots.

Take a look at my shop ( not much stock as yet but watch this space!)

Stories from the past

Standard

In psychiatry, confabulation (verb: confabulate) is a memory disturbance, defined as the production of fabricated, distorted or misinterpreted memories about oneself or the world, without the conscious intention to deceive.

Sitting with Mum continues. I keep taking my knitting and not knitting. I take my book and don’t read and I don’t take her flowers and she tells me off! It’s all part of the big picture. She managed to tell me that she should write a book! I wish she had as all the real memories have gone, confused with the passing of time, its very difficult to dissect the truth from the confusion.

Next week Mum will be 90 so it will be cake and celebration.

I found time to re stock my Etsy shop – I’ve not been there for a long time. I only managed to list one item. Then sold it straight away! Yipeeee!

Crafts and Candles

Candles with a DifferenceCraft Fayre Poster

This  week has been very busy, candle making, working, and just living! Tomorrow we have the annual Christmas Fayre ( why is it spelt this way?) here in our village. I have a stall selling candles. I have tried to be a little different and seek more unusual containers as you can see from the picture. Some of the candle are perfumed with “Baby Lavender” and some with an oil blend called “Tranquility”. The fine china cups and saucers that I usually look out for have become much harder to find, and often far too expensive. I try hard to keep the final price as low as possible.  This is a hobby not a real business I just need to cover costs. I don’t expect to sell out tomorrow, although I would like to sell as many as possible, as Hubs complains about candles taking over the cottage!

Next week I intend to front load my Etsy shop with remaining candles- well some of them! So visit noddfa.crafts@etsy.com

Oh and by the way pop along to the Fayre (fair) in Cilcain village tomorrow!

Busy Life!

Standard

I have been busy busy as usual. Trying hard to finish my Mums Christmas present as I’m itching to start another gift! I’m always on “what next” mode, a great planner but not a great finisher. However, knowing this very fact about myself does give me the impetus to try to finish stuff eventually.

I have also been busy adding stuff to my Etsy shop noddfacrafts. I have added these gorgeous creamy, leather gloves. They belonged to my Grandmother but have never been worn. The gloves come in their original packaging and with the swing tag still attatched. They are truly vintage and I hope that someone will like to buy them.

I have included a cosy Mohair wrap or shawl that I found in Yorkshire earlier this year. The pictures are slightly off colour as the shawl is a delightful blend of light green hues rather than tans but it is lovely.

Busy Days and Lazy Ways

Time flies when you are busy and I have been very busy! I have been making candles for a village craft fair that I am going to in a couple of months. It is unusual for me to be so organised I’m more into last minute panic. I also sell on my etsy shop which is noddfacrafts@etsy.com The candles are hand poured by my own fair hand into vintage china cupsImage I use Soy wax for its slow burning, smoke free, bright flame qualities. The china cups and saucers are getting harder to find at a reasonable price but I enjoy the productivity therapy! Most of the cups have come from charity shops.

And the lazy ways? Why that’s sitting in bed with a cup of tea and my iPad whilst I write this blog ( or read my favourite other blogs) Bliss!
