Positivity

Standard

I do know that a good dose of positivity takes you a long way. I’m not saying it’s a “cure” but it helps you to manage what is going on in your life and max out the life you live. I have recently spent a huge amount of positivity pre and post op. Bilateral hip replacements. The look on everyone’s face when I say that I’ve had both hips replaced. The retort is always “Both?” “At the same time?” Well, ummm yes!

On the craft front I had lots of projects ready to complete or even start and what I Have I done? Very little! A small amount of knitting and a shed load of planning. I’m great at planning, dreaming and thinking. Maybe just maybe I’m turning the corner as today I went to Craft Group. I WALKED there and back! A bit of a mini marathon on the hip front but a move forward nerve the less.

I really enjoy my craft group who are supportive and inspiring so I came away ready to craft and complete Well we will see!

Hippy Hippy Shake

Standard

Today is day 4 post op from a bilateral hip replacement surgery. In all honesty I could have gone home from hospital today but it’s all about confidence. Mobility and independence are the name of the game so I am on target to go home tomorrow.

Bed remote control, TV remote control mobile phone charger, note book, pen, hand cream are all essential items for ward life along with a good book, magazines, crutches, shoe horn and “helping hand” are also necessary. To name some of the detritus that am surrounded by essential for my surgical recovery.

Hip Hip Hurray

Standard

I wasn’t going to write about this but it does help to share.

On Saturday I had a Bi lateral Hip Replacement. My mobility was dreadful and the pain very difficult. However the future is bright. I am now the bionic woman and recovering slowly. It is not common to have both hips done at once but I decided that it was a good plan because:-

  • One anaesthetic
  • One recovery time ( but protracted)
  • One worry pre op Because I would have had to have 2 separate operations
  • Able to return to normal life quicker
  • So here I am wrapped in a cocoon of care, recovering slowly but surely. I have decided that slowly but surely will get a much better outcome. I keep being told that it is a “marathon not a sprint” My approach is one of positivity. I know that thinking positively brings positive results! Watch this space.
  • I will keep you up to date
  • Life at sea with SAGA

    Standard

Hi guys life on a cruise ship is never boring. (If it is it’s your fault) !

Today is my first day of my first cruise with SAGA Ok the ship is full of golden oldies but what an enthusiastic lot! I’m not working and I am actually enjoying a holiday with Hubs and have the time to attend other activities!

please note that this is NOT Hubs!

Mr Motivator (AKA Derrick Evans) is a guest speaker on board!

This is a gift for me as I prepare for bilateral hip replacements in a few weeks. Mr Motivator is certainly active, enthusiastic and positive! I’m also able to swim daily, well excercise my legs and hips! Just what the doctor ordered!

    Desert, Dunes and Townships

    Standard

Today was a day of contrasts. We arrived in Namibia in Walvis Bay . This is situated between the Namib and Khalarari deserts. It appears to be a land of sand dunes, diamonds and Townships. Very much a contrast between the haves and the have nots ( as many countries) I took a tour and visited Dune 7 the largest sand dune in the World.

We moved on to look at a Township. I felt very sad and upset as they stopped the coach to look and I wasn’t sure if we were watching a zoo or those outside were watching us in a zoo!

We ended the tour at an up market beach resort ( what a contrast) I had a very belated breakfast here and finally rang hubs at home. Travel and absence certainly makes the heart grow fonder.

    Crafting in Gran Canaria

    Standard

No real crafting today just a big sort ready for our class tomorrow! A beautiful HOT day here in Las Palmas

The “problem” with cruising is that the ship invariably docks in an unattractive busy port. The nature of the beast I suppose! Usually the initial first impression is replaced by holiday happiness and enthusiasm for the resort.

I am enjoying a good swim each day which seems to be helping my hip problem. I’m working on the principle that they use water therapy for race horses with leg problems Bring on the Race Horse exercise programme!

    Cruise craft prep

    Standard

I’ve been working hard prepping for my next crafty cruise which is just over two weeks away. This is a four week cruise so there has been a lot of work preparing all the craft projects. I think I’ve got an interesting mix of stitching, printing, up cycling and modelling. Today’s prep project involved Lush upcycled pots and pin cushions.

I did find time to walk the dog and enjoy the autumn sunshine

When is a weed not a weed?

    Standard

Here in the beautiful Clwydian hills the hedgerows are full of colour. There are so many plants in bloom, going to seed and looking pretty. These weeds are a delight and blooming marvellous!

Weeds are just plants in the wrong place according to one definition. These weeds sorry plants are definitely in the right place.

I will tell you more about my slow stitching weekend ( and I am slow!)in the next blog. See you then!!

    A Promenade

    Standard

An esplanade or promenade is a long, open, level area, usually next to a river or large body of water, where people may walk. … Esplanade and promenade are sometimes used interchangeably.

    Thank you Wikipedia

The large body of water here is Cardigan Bay. One of the best places in Britain to see dolphins and porpoises without getting into a boat. We didn’t spot any today on this blustery, cloudy day. We did walk along the promenade and did a little beach combing. We picked up pebbles to paint later, and drift wood to dry out and await inspiration.

Criccieth castle was built by Edward 1st. The promenade offers the chance to amble from Criccieth castle at one end to Dylan’s Restaurant for coffee,at the other end.
