Cruise Crafts Log Book

Standard

On the recent cruise one of the crafts that I taught was the making of a log book or Journal about the cruise. The loose leaf file was covered in fabric and then embellished and used as a scrapbook. It was possible to embellish the cover using wooden printing blocks and many participants also used buttons, beads or fabric to add interest to the cover.

The passengers collected maps, tickets, postcards, photographs, and any other memorabilia to put into their log. At the end of the cruise everyone was delighted with their souvenir and maybe we have some converts to Smash booking.

Key Elements of a Smash Book. Instead of buying a scrapbook album and page protectors, a smash book is a journal in which you can write, draw, paint and glue in embellishments and memorabilia as you’re on-the-move. No planning is involved – you simply decorate as you feel

An Old Take on Cut and Paste

Standard

I have spent the day in the company of my Lovely Grandson. In this part of the World it is half term so Grandparents all over the country are being called upon to mind their Grandchildren. I love these days and regard it as an opportunity to play childish games that I don’t normally have chance to do.

Today we were cutting and pasting. Not in the computer sence thank goodness, but using scissors and paper. We made a scrap book and Lovely Grandson drew delightfull pictures of his collection of “Skylanders”. For the uninitiated these are a tribe of Aliens who are used to play animated computer games and basically fight each other.

The drawings were all labelled with the characters’names, therefore improving writing skills as well as cutting out and gluing them into the home made book. Yes! That is something else that has changed. It’s no longer a “scrapbook” but a “smash book” – nothing stays the same.

Finally Lovely Grandson set up his Skylanders as a display using the scrapbook smash book as the back drop. A creative, busy and fun day for both Lovely Grandson and Gorgeous Granny!

Memories.

I am putting together a scrap book of many of the things that I have made in the past. Sadly I don’t have photos of a lot of the items as they were frequently made as gifts, worn out or just out of fashion and charity shopped! I love taking the pictures or trawling through old pics to seek out the more vintage items that appear in old photos! I LOVE the memories that come flooding back. I also LOVE the scrap book as it gets filled up.

Love is……..

Stationery.

I LOVE my Sharpie pens. They are the most versatile, colourful and useful coloured pens e v e r ! Almost every craft project requires stationery! I need “post its” for note taking ideas, page markers, note books, pencils and files, not to mention coloured paper, albums, and of course more pens. Oh don’t forget files, boxes, scissors, paints, and always more pens.

Crafting.

I have crafted for ever! I love to knit, stitch, sew, quilt, re-purpose, crochet. I love to read about crafts, plan to craft and write about crafts! As a child I knit and sewed doll house curtains. As I teenager I made my own clothes and seat covers for the family camper. As a young woman I dress made and knit for my children. As a mature woman I now attempt a multitude of crafts!

Blogging

I love to blog! Blogging is a great log of all my crafting projects, both current and past. Blogging is also a log of all my vintage finds and some of my belongings. Blogging is a great way to chat to like minded people. I don’t look for monetary reward for my blogging (although it would be good if I knew how!) I just love to blog.
