Rainy Day Activity

Standard

Welsh Wales weather can be very wet! However, on our recent seaside break in Llanbedrog it wasn’t too bad. We had a few nice beach days and a few variable days. To fill in a dull morning Step Grandaughter and I attempted some block printing. I’d gone well prepared with fabric paint, print blocks and linen tea towels. ( all left from my recent craft cruise)

As usual Benji dog wanted to play as well!IMG_1301IMG_1309IMG_1310Step Grand daughter did amazingly well. She is patient and plans carefully. We were both delighted with the result and great plans are afoot for teachers’ Christmas gifts!

Playing with Paint

Standard

A week or so ago, whilst on a Crafty Canadian Cruise, we had quite a few classes playing with paint. We provided paint, tea towel, linen tote bags and stamps. You’ve guest it, we were creating our own Textile decorations. The linens were especially bought for printing. Colour, imagination and creativity abounded.

The dog related stamps were especially popular, making me realise how much people love their pets (not least of all myself) All of the ladies who joined in were pleased with the results.

These printed projects would need the paint sealing to make it waterproof. It’s very simple you just iron on the wrong side for quite a few minutes. Or you can tumble dry to seal.

Good job well done!

Crafts, Cruise and Colour

Standard

Another craft that we enjoyed on our recent Scottish cruise was Textile printing. We used a selection of stamps, some of which were lovely hand carved ones from India.

20170712_101430We had taken linen tea towels and tote bags. This is a lovely creative craft that anyone can enjoy.

20170712_100801The people who came to the class enjoyed creating their own designs. One lady designed a grey and black tea towel to match her new kitchen.

20170712_173125Another lady came who was severely sight impaired. It was a delight to help her choose the colours and print a towel. Sometimes life is so rewarding!

A Scatter Gun Approach

Standard

I have decided that I definitely take a scattergun approach to life!

Today I went with Darling Daughter to the Stitching Sewing and Hobbycrafts Show at Event City in Manchester. The show itself was just about OK BUT I bought ( at vast expense I might add) lots of wood carved stamps for fabric printing. Another hobby, project to learn, as if I’ve not got enough to do!

I must concentrate on one thing at a time! I really do know myself. When I studied Psychology I frequently had my personality analysed. I always turned out top score for starting projects and nil points at finishing projects. So true!

Meanwhile I am excited at starting another project.

I’ve bought the paint, pads and stamps so now I just need to source some nice silk to print. Oh and focus! One project at a time. I confess that I’ve just bought three books on various crafts. This is becoming a Splatter Gun approach.
