Here we go again…. Sorry to be late with this blog but life is so busy ( excuses excuses!) Anyhow here we are, we’ve made it this far!
For this year’s Mothering Sunday I made my Lovely Mum a photo album of her, and her family. I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed wading through hundreds of old photographs. The original idea was to reduce the number of pictures and make some storage space. In reality I could hardly bear to throw many out. I had a lovely time sorting, remembering and gluing in the pictures. I used one fab album, two sticks of Glue and loads of time.
Mum was much more delighted than I could have hoped. Her long term memory is sharp, she knew who everyone in the photographs and we shared a giggle. Hopefully the album will provide a conversation point in the future and a long term memory of happy days, a happy life and a wonderful Mum. Happy Mothering Day every day.
This week we have been in the Lakes,Cumbria. This is actually my fourth week this year, how lucky am I? But I digress. I fully intended to take lots of pictures and blog a lot.Whats happened you may ask? Well the app that I use to transfer my carefully composed, we’ll thought out photographs ( OK snaps! ) has decided to misbehave. I have spent/wasted HOURS trying to get it to work but I’ve now given up. I’ve abandoned hope and will buy one of those things that read the SIM card.
The weather has been amazingly nice, with beautiful sun rises and unforgettable sun sets.
We have walked Benji dog, explored the hills and enjoyed life. We have re watched series four of “The Game of Thrones” and chatted over wine, well more tea than wine! We have planned next weekend in the Yorkshire Dales where, hopefully, I will have a working camera.
I treated myself today ( I do like tea) and we are home tomorrow. So speak soon my dear friends.
The day got off to a pretty good start today! When I opened my emails I had an invite to a “VIP Bloggers Event, Chester Lush” on Sunday next. Wow! This should be really good and I will report back to you eventually.
The invitation prompted me to sort out my current Lush Stash. I am a fan of Lush products as you can see, and have some gorgeous shower gels and lovely creams. You don’t get this gorgeous without some effort you know! When I was setting up the photo shoot some shells crept into the picture as you can see. I had already been sorting out shells for a future craft project. ( actually looking for ones with holes-strange as it may seem!)
I store these shells in a vintage glass globe on the bathroom window sill. Now what was really strange was when I delved into the shell collection they were all glued together in the bottom of the globe with a dried out gloop! It seems that in the past I put either Lush soap and or bath bombs into the shell collection! These Lush products must have melted with a combination of sun and condensation and sank to the bottom of the glass.
The only way that I could get the shells out was to run hot water into the globe. The smell was GORGEOUS. I couldn’t pick the globe up as it was heavy, slippy and smelling lovely. I had to keep running water into the container until all of the Lush product had dissolved and rinsed away! The shells came out and smell delightful.
The glass globe, complete with shells, is now back in its rightful place in the bathroom. The shells with holes through them have been removed and Lush products returned to the shower. Happy Days!
A Lushous Christmas is about to happen for some lucky folk! I bought two of Lush bath bomb wands for my Little girl neighbours. These are multiple use foamy bath wands and are to be swished in the bath water. Swish, swish make a wish! They are yummy, scrummy, foamy treats. I am sure that my mini neighbours will enjoy them.
I also had to buy a “secret Santa” gift for a girl friend. Again I turned to Lush and purchased one of their boxed gift sets. I have included a list of contents as there are loads of products inside. I hope that the recipient enjoys it as much as I have enjoyed buying it. I have to admit that I have a couple of the boxes from previous years and love them so much especially as they are now full of my precious vintage photographs. (Ps the photos smell gorgeous!)
Just as a matter of interest, I generally visit Lush, Chester. Today the shop was heaving with customers but there was a happy, jolly Christmas atmosphere. Happy Christmas!
Our girly week end was a great sucess as expected! Having been away twice a year for sixteen years we have a formula that we know works.
I) We select reasonably high end self catering accommodation.
2) We each have our own tasks eg who drives, who shops for food, who cooks etc and it suits us!
3) We know each personality, likes and dislikes.
4) We plan menus and walks with great precision in advance.
5) We always have a great time!
As I blogged about in my previous blog titled “memories” I had sorted out dozens of photographs from our previous trips away. I took these in a tin and we spent a happy few hours sorting through them. We worked out the locations and approximate dates. We laughed at what we were wearing and marvelled at our dated hair styles. We remembered some restaurants, swimming pools and appalling weather. We discussed changes in ourselves and were amazed at the passage of time.
I purchased a photograph album and spent another couple of hours fixing the pictures into the book. I did manage to label most of them as to where and when, but am sceptical as to the accuracy of the dates! I even bought a luxury pack of felt tip pens with which to label the pictures. I just can’t help myself where stationery is concerned!💃
The next task is to somehow find on my old computer previous pictures from probably the last six years or so. Print them off and add to the collection. We did laugh about the last woman standing ( read living ) inheriting the album of memories but at least those memories are nearly organised!
