Christmas comes Early

Standard

IMG_1419It’s been a tradition for many years that I go away with a group of girl friends and enjoy an early Christmas. This year we chose a log cabin in the Forest of Dean. A beautiful location, reasonable weather and brilliant company.

Our pop up Christmas tree was safely transported and Father Christmas payed a “surprise” visit.

IMG_1424There was a resident Robin but I didn’t get a picture so I took one of the resident “duck”.

The Santa Special

Standard

Last weekend I took my youngest Grandson on the Santa Special. This is a renovated steam train which runs from Llangollen to Carrog, a journey of about three quarters of an hour. When I told Grandson what we were going to do he was convinced it was The Polar Express. However he wasn’t disappointed.

imageThe weather was very, very wet but it didn’t spoil the day. Santa put in an appearance and spoke to every child and gave each one a gift. The elves, whilst somewhat mature, were jolly, cheerful and led some singing!

Grandson was given a goody bag and so was I! Mine was the best as it contained a tipple of my favourite drink ( well one of my favourites) and a mince pie.

When we arrived at the end of the valley, the station name had been temporarily changed to read ” Lapland”.Santa posed for more photographs and we shopped in the railway memorabilia side car. Where grandson, when faced with all things trains, chose a wooden snake as a gift! Mmmmmm! A lovely day out including artificial snow and lots of rain. Great fun!

Santa in Drag

Standard

I recently went to a school Christmas Fayre with Gorgeous Granddaughter who is ten years old. I convinced her to visit Father Christmas as it was a bargain ¬£2 and she would get a gift. Now you’re not going to believe this but Santa was a woman!! OK so She/he spoke in an unconvincingly deep voice but I ask you, surely ¬†they could have found a man to do the job! I was so shocked that I forgot to take a photograph.

To add to the confusion the following day we went to a pantomime where the principal boy was a girl! The ugly sisters were male! The Dame was a chap! And Buttons was a female! What is going on? I’m comfortable with gender reassignment, cross dressing or whatever floats your boat but really!
