My home is a small stone cottage in the Clwydian Hills of North Wales. Last week our central heating boiler died, so this week it is being replaced. Not a problem you might think! Well……
The cottage is something in excess of 100 years old. It is built from stone and then White rendered. In fact it’s an up and down sort of a building full of odd steps, nooks and crannys, but we love it. Anyhow, I digress, the boiler has arrived all shiny and new. The plumbers have arrived and needed to drill a hole through the outside wall.
The wall is 22 inches thick and made of Granite!! They’ve just broken through to the outside so I suspect that the job might take a little longer than planned. You wouldn’t believe the level of dust within the house, or how far it spreads. I thought of the following poem with a rye smile because dust I must!
I will show you the “after” pictures when it is eventually done!
We have just returned from a week at my son’s holiday cottage in Llanbedrog, Wales. We went with family and of course Benji dog.
Gwelfor Holiday Cottage is owned by my eldest son who has worked really hard creating a home from home to let out for short and longer breaks.
The front elevation is having a face lift this week end to brighten it up. Whilst the rear boasts a good size garden with lovely views. Ideal for children and a BBQ!
The house has been furnished in a modern mid century style and boasts one of the best beaches in Wales within a 5 minute walk. Popular Abersoch is a short drive in the other direction with more stunning beaches and trendy shops.
suspect hope that I will have many more visits to this lovely location.

One day I might meet myself coming backwards! Well I wouldn’t want it any other way Busy is good, interesting, exhausting and fun! In the last month I have been on a Caribbean cruise with Hubs. Oh the glorious beaches, spicy aromas and hot hot sun! We left Christmas in the freezer returning home to a very cold stone cottage in the Welsh hills the day before Christmas. Once we had warmed up the cottage we put up some decorations and cooked Christmas dinner for 10 family members.
The next day I made another project for my imminent craft cruise. Three weeks on Friday I go to The Norwegian Fiords on another cruise. This time I will be teaching crafts whilst onboard. I have nearly completed assembling the craft projects that we will be doing on this cruise so phew! Another job done.
This bag is made using iconic Liberty fabric. It is quite simple because it has to be hand stitched. The bag is just the right size to use on board ship to carry your book and sun tan lotion. ( Although I don’t think we will need much sun protection during the very short Norwegian days of Winter!) I have added a pocket to carry the ships card in.
I will update you again soon dear friends so may 2017 bring peace, health and love to you all.
A year or so ago I stumbled over a cottage with a yellow door. I wanted to buy that cottage and it was for sale and it had a yellow door. The fact that I didn’t have the money, didn’t want to move and Hubs knew nothing about it was irrelevant. The cottage had a yellow door and I wanted it!
I explored beyond the yellow door and had myself moved in and decorated each of the tiny rooms. I would have a dresser with yellow China cups and a cream couch with yellow accents throw. I spent hours fantasising how I would visit this cottage ever weekend and never ever change the colour of the yellow door.
To this day I don’t know why this tiny cottage, up a lane in Snowdonia, with a yellow door was so attractive to me. It was definitely something to do with the yellow door. So guys if you are selling your home paint the front door yellow!
