Bake! Baby Bake!

Standard

imageThis week it was my delight to see Paul Hollywood, (judge in the Great a British Bake Off) in his tour of Britain. He was so very good. He entertained, baked, chatted, baked and flirted whilst he baked. He made what looked and smelled like a gorgeous baked Brie wrapped in a bread coat. There was a luscious chocolate, meringue roll. He baked a bread with a Stilton and walnut combo and he demonstrated a complicated bread plait.

Paul was a baker brought up in the North of England and has enjoyed global admiration since he became a judge on the Great British Bake Off. He has an easy manner and lovely blue eyes. Amazingly this show was the polar opposite to last weeks rock concert. This week I had the best seat in the theatre bought for me as a birthday present by number two child. Thank you number two child! Thank you Paul Hollywood.image

Apple Festival

Standard

We attended an Apple Festival at Erdigg as a birthday treat for me!!! The weather was beautiful, cold, crisp and Autumnal. We took a pic nic. played rolly polly down hills and melted marshmallow over a bonfire. Erdigg is a National Trust house near to Wrexham in North Wales. The apple display was awesome. I didn’t ┬árealise that there are so many apple varieties, but we came home with bags of bargain apples.

The walled garden is lovely but I adore walled gardens. So mellow, warm and lush. The autumn colours are stunning with golden red foliage. ┬áTruly a season of “mists and mellow fruitfulness” I had a lovely birthday treat and am grateful to have made it this far!image image image image image image

A Whale of a Time

A Whale of a Time

Finally,it’s finished! I completed the cushion for my Grandson’s birthday. For some reason, only known to him,he wanted a whale themed fifth birthday, so whale it is.
I traced the motives of whale, starfishes and fish onto heat and bond, which I ironed onto appropriate fabric, and then ironed the fabric onto the background. I then blanket stitched around each “Creature” to hold them in place. I added buttons for eyes and glitter glue to highlite and Voila! Themed cushion.
My first finished craft project of 2014!
I now have to decide what to do next. It really ought to be a completion project not something new, but we will see.
